Fun facts

- We have 72 miles of coastline and 30 rooftops to survey. There are also colonies and solitary sites that pop up on spoil islands and even construction sites. Over the last couple of years, we’ve had two of Florida’s four east coast Black Skimmer nesting colonies. All of this is monitored by a core group of about 18 active participants that were awarded the 2013/2014 FWC Volunteer Team of the Year!

- Between 2013 and 2014, we worked with three property managers to fence and cover drains on the roofs to prevent seabird chicks from falling off their rooftops. This has been a success and we plan to expand our efforts to other rooftops.
